It is a scientific fact that Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oils (especially salmon) plays a significant role in the reduction of heart disease. There is also strong scientific data suggesting that the consumption of fish and fish oils prevent a host of other diseases, including but not limited to Cancer, Diabetes, Arthritis, Asthma, Migraine Headaches, Ulcers, Multiple Sclerosis, Psoriasis, Hyperactive Thyroid and Lupus.

These findings are supported by studies between Inuits and Danes with the same genetic background - but with vastly different eating habits. Although both Inuits and Danes get 40% of their calories from fat - the Inuits' calories come from fish oil and the Danes' calories come from animal fats.

In one Inuit settlement of 1300 people, the death rate from heart disease was 3.5% compared to a 50% rate in most of the West.

The omega position in unsaturated fats, has significant effect on the freezing characteristics. Generally, omega-3 oils freeze at a much lower temperature than other oils giving the oils containing these acids different characteristics.
